Reviews of Our Podcast

and one all-encompassing, big friggin’ resounding THANK YOU to everyone who has taken time out of their day (that they could be spending playing the greatest of games) to leave some kind words. We put them here, more for us, because we read them whenever we need a boost. We love you back.

Regarding our contribution to MCDM’s Arcadia:

I'm only halfway through the descriptions of each of the 3 Writers in the Scribes... and I can already tell. This is just a ruse to pull the strings on us DMs... by getting us to consider Plot, Action, and Drama as the Scribes would do it -- it forces us to include plot, action, and drama in our games. It's a meta organization, and the true Librarian is Hook & Chance and The GM Tim.

Best D&D podcast for DMs
☆☆☆☆☆
You guys are very good, because you’re systematic. You bring structure to things and it makes everything so much easier. It’s not just a discussion, you make a lot of good points. There is substance to this podcast that other podcasts lack.

I love the podcast and have listened to every episode related to being a dm. I’m working my way through the rest. Well, I just wrapped up my first long-running campaign and I would like to send out a huge thank you to everyone on this [Discord]. You, along with the podcast, helped me be able to make it one of the best campaigns my players have been a part of. (Their words!)

Excellent for DMs
☆☆☆☆☆
I’ve deep-dived into dozens of DM-oriented D&D podcasts, and this one immediately became probably my #1. Very practical, super creative, and their website/Patreon has a ton of free accompanying (useful) resources. This podcast deserves waay more attention.

Best RPG podcast - by far!
☆☆☆☆☆
This podcast is by far the best in the vast expanses of the internet devoted to D&D. It is aimed more at the dungeon masters among us, but there is always something for players too. The two hosts are brothers from Canada and have great chemistry. Mega personable. Everyone who speaks the English language and is interested in the biggest role-playing game in the world should give this a listen.

My favorite D&D podcast
☆☆☆☆☆
This podcast has a great level of creative energy. The hosts spin-off all kinds of awesomely weird evolutions from basic D&D concepts while simultaneously producing focused, practical content that can be used to make your games better. I installed iTunes just to leave them a five-star review. The show is that good.

Players and DMs that love the game dissecting it and sharing their opinions and reasons for loving the game, all while giving fascinating advice on how to add to our games. Inspirational and an addictive listen! 10 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

”Honestly I just finished the 4th episode and it has not only helped me expand my idea of how to make a dnd game but how to write a story in general and deal with things in my everyday life. (I may be exaggerating but I try to use lessens I learn on all fronts) This is the podcast I’ve been waiting for as a pretty much brand new player and a soon to be first time DM. Thanks you two for your work. I’m excited for you both. 🤓⚔️🐉🤣🧝🏼‍♂️📚✏️🎲 “

Greetings from Minnesota!

I was introduced to HaC (psst this acronym is a lot easier to type and you should use it too) through a post on some dnd sub and decided to give it a listen.

I started with Episode 3 because I am a gigantic fan of u/famoushippopotamus, and I was initially surprised that your first guest would be such a prolific part of the community.

First off, I'm an audiophile and tend to be obnoxiously picky with my podcasts, if a pod has interference or plosives or sub-par editing, I generally back away.

This. Pod. Is. Professional. Grade.

The content, the presentation, the succinctness, it's all just so good.

Somehow you know exactly what I (and I think a large portion of the community) wanted/needed in an informative D&D podcast. It's so approachable and I think it fits perfectly in a content gap we didn't know existed.

How can I best support this production in terms of views and popularity? Where all can I leave reviews and try to boost y'all up the algorithm?

I appreciate the effort and impatiently look forward for more.

A fresh new D&D related podcast

Hosted by two brothers(?), Travis and Jordan, this D&D related podcast has a light hearted and cheerful tone. The natural rapport between the hosts showcases their unique and interesting take on D&D advice for both DM’s and players alike.

Hey, I listened to episode 7 last week and really wanted to say in my opinion best episode yet! The topic was helpful and new, pacing was perfect and the delivery was entertaining. Found myself grinning ear to ear with your example adventure at the end. Brought me back to the real reason I play D&D. An occasional great tale, a chance at improv and continued fun among friends. Looking forward to more.

Just ran one of the most epic sessions thanks to your advice. Everything had a ticking clock. Epic. Thank you so much!

Your podcast is the best one out there. I started listening when the third episode came out and it has been something I look forward to every week for my commute. I appreciate how you try to give ideas that fit into formulas and step-by-step approaches; it makes things a hell of a lot more accessible.

I just found this podcast and the warning sequence alone, before the intro made me subscribe. I absolutely love this show now that I’ve watched it through. I look forward to more.

I’m about a dozen shows in and the ideas keep coming. Lots of great thoughts and new flavor (I’m looking at your Source of Force episode secret weapon). I’ve listened to a few podcasts on DMing and this one is the real deal. Highly recommend it for seasoned game masters or if you’re a new player.

“This was a totally random find, and a really good DMing interview, for those DMs out there that struggle to find good world-building methods. Getting players into your world can be the hardest part of the job as a DM. Turning them from murderhobos into actual contributing members of the world can be difficult. Hook & Chance recently interviewed FamousHippopotamus on their podcast, and really got into some good techniques for worldbuilding that he likes to use when creating his D&D games. His 20 Questions method of character creation really generates content from player to DM in helping the DM build the world, and simultaneously generates buy-in from the players, as they now have invested in-character into the world. Anyway, it's a fantastic interview, and a great podcast overall. I'm not normally much of a podcast guy, but this one caught my attention.

I really enjoyed listening to this podcast. The brothers interact really well with each other in a comedic and informative manner. The subject matter is great for ideas and looking at D&D aspects from both player and DM perspectives. I binge listened the first batch of episodes and can’t wait for more. Thanks guys. Keep it up.

You guys are killing it. Please do not stop! It’s super enjoyable, I like that it’s cordial, and I love that it’s people… you two are brothers. There is a chemistry there that isn’t on every podcast. Please do not stop."

This is a such a great resource for roleplayers who want to make their games more dramatic and enjoyable. I can’t recommend this podcast enough. Among the non-liveplay podcasts there are few that provide this much value to new Dungeons and Dragons players like me. Thank you!
